[As Jesus passed by, two blind men followed him, crying out,
“Son of David, have pity on us!”
When He entered the house,
the blind men approached Him and Jesus said to them,
“Do you believe that I can do this?”
“Yes, Lord,” they said to Him.
Then He touched their eyes and said,
“Let it be done for you according to your faith.”
And their eyes were opened.
Jesus warned them sternly,
“See that no one knows about this.”
But they went out and spread word of Him through all that land.] (Mt. 9:27-31)

Jesus asks the blind men in the Gospel if they really believe He can restore their sight. They affirm their faith in Jesus, and then Jesus extends His hand and heals their ailment.  The real miracle that Jesus works here is not restoring physical sight but rather a restoration of spiritual sight.  Jesus renews the blind men’s trust in a God who cares about them even though everyone else has cast them aside.

It’s easy to “trust” God and believe He cares about me when everything is going right. However the second something threatens my sense of peace I’m reminded that maybe I don’t actually believe He takes any notice of me.

What about you? What situations or circumstances leave you wondering if God cares? Tell Him about them, be honest.  Allow Him to stretch out His arm and assure you of His love.  He’s not a magic pill that fixes everything we want. Jesus is a Person who will walk with us to restore our spiritual sight if we give Him the chance.

“Do you trust Me?”

“Do you believe that I can do this?”
