[The angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,
of the house of David,
and the virgin’s name was Mary.
And coming to her, he said,
“Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.”] (Lk. 1:26-28)
Today we celebrate the Blessed Virgin Mary who is the Immaculate Conception. From the moment of her conception Mary was preserved from the stain of original sin. She was “full of grace” with no trace of sin on her soul. This made her the perfect person to be the mother of God.
As we continue our journey to the Christmas crib, we ought not walk it alone. The mother of our savior knows the way. She already made the journey and therefore she can show us the path to her Son and a life of holiness.
Invite Mary to take you by the hand and lead you to Bethlehem. Try something as simple as praying 3 “Hail Mary”’s each day. Specifically ask Mary to pray for you and your family as Christmas approaches. Ask her to show you how to be open to the holy way of life God is calling you to—how to live immaculately.
