Virtue Blog March 11

Dear Assumption Catholic Schools

Our virtue this week is dilligence

The strength to accomplish tasks
with tireless dedication.

OPENING PRAYER
Thank you, Lord, for this day,
this opportunity, this time together.
Strengthen our wills and forge our resolve to
WORK HARD in our pursuit of excellence in every
area of our life.

This week our strength building on the virtue of
JUSTICE is DILIGENCE.
The strength to accomplish tasks
with tireless dedication.
Other words or synonyms for DILIGENCE ARE:
Hard-Work
Attentiveness
Commitment
Persistence

Make a speci al effort to
complete some special task with tireless
dedication.
Pay attention to all the details.
Really give your best effort.

LUKE 4: 40-43
At sunset, all who had people sick with various
diseases brought them to him. He laid his hands on
each of them and cured them.
And demons also came out from many, shouting, “You
are the Son of God.”y But he rebuked them and did not
allow them to speak because they knew that he was
the Messiah.
At daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place.
The crowds went looking for him, and when they came
to him, they tried to prevent him from leaving them.
But he said to them, “To the other towns also I must
proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God,
because for this purpose I have been sent.”

“Pray as though everything depended on God.
Work as though everything depended on you.”
– St. Augustine

“How could I bear a crown of gold
when the Lord bears a crown of thorns?
And bears it for me.”
– St. Elizabeth of Hungary

“Sanctify yourself and you will sanctify society.”
– St. Francis of Assisi

The opposing vice

INDOLENCE
THE WEAKNESS TO AVOID ACTIVITY
OR MAKING AN EFFORT.

INDOLENCE = LAZINESS
A short phrase to describe indolence is:
“I can but I won’t.”
We can begin to overcome our laziness and
indolence by:
• Recognizing when we feel lazy or we are refusing
to do something good.
• Resolve to make the effort to do that good thing.
• Do it.

CLOSING PRAYER
Lord God, You didn’t run at the first sign of chaos or
difficulty.
You showed us how to be DILIGENT, sacrificial, loving
and truthful.
We want to live like You.
We want to live for You and for others.
In Your Name we pray. Amen

In Christ’s Peace
