Greetings Assumption Catholic Schools,

Today is the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. In church history it was originally the Feast of Our Lady of Victory – in honor of the victory of the Catholic fleet over the Turkish/Ottoman fleet at the battle of Lepanto in 1571.  This victory protected Western Europe from the threat of invasion by the Muslims.

Today is also the first Friday of the month.  Spend time today reflecting on the great gift that is Jesus in our lives.

The strength of the week is TRUST.  The ability to believe in someone regardless of the situation.  The slide deck with details can be viewed here. Trust

There are many examples of trust in Salvation History.  some of these are;

St. Faustina – she had visions of Hell and was inspired by God to paint the image of the Sacred Heart with the signature Jesus I trust in You..

Sr. Adele Brise- the Marian apparition in 1859 in Champion, WI – near Green Bay.  Today it is the only recognized Marian apparition in the United States.  On the night of Oct. 8, 1871 while Chicago was burning there was also the great Peshtigo fire in NE Wisconsin.  The residents of the area where called to the church grounds, sprinkled the boundary with Holy Water and prayed the Rosary for protection.  In the morning, the surrounding area was burnt to the ground but the fire stopped at the edge of the church property.. Pray the Rosary this month.

In Christ’s Peace
