President’s Virtue Message December 9 2022

Posted on Dec 9, 2022 by

Dear Assumption Catholic Schools,

My continued prayers for your Advent journey to Bethlehem and the celebration of Jesus’ birth on Christmas Day.  Advent is a time of waiting, preparation and anticipation.

This weekend is the third Sunday of Advent – the day we light the pink candle – known as Gaudete Sunday  it celebrates the hope that we have.. Did you know there is a corresponding Sunday in Lent – the 4th Sunday of Lent -the Catholic Church uses the color rose to indicate a joyful feast day or holiday. Gaudete Sunday’s counterpart in Lent is Laetare Sunday, another break in penance to rejoice in hope as we approach Easter. During both days, a priest will usually wear rose vestments.

Also if you are curious as to the meaning of the colors of the liturgical year – this graphic has a great explanation

The virtue/strength of the week is meekness. to do good in the face of evil.  Being meek is not being weak. For more examples please see the slide deck for this week. Meekness 2022 MINI PDF

May God continue to bless the students, staff, families and supporters of Assumption Catholic Schools.

We also pray for Bishop Callahan as he recovers from some health issues.

In Christ’s Peace

Daniel Minter
