College Credit Opportunities

Dual Credit Courses

Assumption students can earn college credit while taking high school courses in the following subjects:

Catholic University courses

American Literature – 3 college credits
British Literature – 3 college credits
Anatomy and Physiology – 4 college credits

Advanced Placement

Assumption High School offers opportunities for students to earn college credit as a result of courses taken while in high school through participation in the following programs:

  • AP: United Sates History
  • AP: Psychology

Additionally, students may request to take an AP test in a subject that AHS does not offer AP test preparation for by notifying the registrar. More information about AP subjects, testing, and scores can be found at http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/Controller.jpf

Concurrent Enrollment

Program for Advanced College Credit (PACC) through concurrent enrollment with St. Mary’s University of Minnesota

  • E 200 Topics in British Literature -3 credits

  • BIOL 104 Anatomy and Physiology I -4 credits

Mid-State Technical College (MSTC)

A student can earn 0.25 AHS credits for every 1.0 MSTC credit successfully completed with a written one page report on what was covered in this course. The student must also request a letter grade from the instructor to be sent to AHS. More information about Mid-State Technical College classes and programs may be found at http://www.mstc.edu/

  • Certified Nursing Assistant – 3 credits
  • Medical Terminology – 3 credits
  • Intro. to Engineering – 2 credits
  • Welding – 2 credits

College Placement Testing

Many colleges require math, English and foreign language placement testing. Math and English results may allow students to meet college requirements and/or be placed into either level. In terms of foreign language, students can earn college credits retroactively by successfully completing per college guidelines the semester course they test (place) into. The University of Wisconsin’s Center for Placement Testing administers the Regional Placement Testing program.
