[So too, you also must be prepared,
for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.] (Mt. 24:34)
Our Gospel passage today ended with this Common exhortation by Jesus. Be ready…repent the kingdom of God is at hand.
We start the season of Advent looking forward not to the manger, but the end of the world. Soon we’ll narrow our focus, but for now we focus on readying, purifying our hearts for Jesus when He comes.
As we begin Advent, take some time to examine your heart. Am I ready if Jesus would come tonight, tomorrow, next week…? Which attitudes and desires of mine need to be purified in order for me to be ready?
