President’s Message January 22

Dear Assumption Catholic Schools,

My continued prayers for all of you. School was a bit different this past week, we had the first instance of moving two entire schools to remote learning. This was not due to excessive cases of COVID but rather due to the number of staff who were close contacts of the cases which resulted in us not having enough staff to operate in person instruction. Thank you to the staff at the middle and high schools and the students for making this past week as fruitful as possible.

Again I commend the efforts of all the staff in working to keep the academic and spiritual education of our students in focus.

Today, January 22nd, marks the 48th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision on abortion. As a Catholic school we fully support the USCCB and Vatican statements against this practice. I know there is a range of opinions on this but I offer the following items for those who want to express support for the Pro Life cause.

A local event
Our Lady Queen of Heaven parish will be hosting 40 hours of Eucharistic Adoration for the legal protection of the unborn beginning after the 5:00 PM Mass on Thursday, January 28th, and continuing through to 10:00 AM Mass on Saturday the 30th. Adorers are needed! Consult the sign-up sheet in the parish vestibule or contact the parish office to sign up for an hour.

You are called to stand up for life! To respect and defend the mystery of life always and everywhere, including the lives of unborn babies, giving real help and encouragement to mothers in difficult situations. You are called to work and pray against abortion.
