Virtue of the Week

Dear Assumption Catholic Schools

The virtue of the week is FAITH

THE APOSTLES CREED
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth
at the right hand of God, the Father almighty;
from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.
Amen.

The virtue of FAITH is a gift from God, placed or
infused in our souls at Baptism, that gives us the
strength to believe in God and everything that His
Holy Catholic Church teaches us.
This gift of FAITH is a treasure of immeasurable
value, for in it we possess a divine light which
serves to guide us safely on the way to Heaven

This light of FAITH enables us to BELIEVE that
God loves us, even though we can’t see Him.
It strengthens us to live according to the
teachings of the Church.
And it inspires us to be a light for others by our
good example.

God created us to know Him, to love Him, and to
serve Him in this world, and to be happy with
Him forever in HEAVEN in the next.
The virtue of FAITH is a necessary strength which
will help us achieve that goal.

In Christ’s Peace

Make the Sign of the Cross whenever
you pass by the Chapel
or a Catholic Church to express our
Faith in Jesus present
In the Most Blessed Sacrament.
FAMILY RESOLUTION
Attend Holy Mass on Sunday

Luke 17: 5-6
And the apostles said to the Lord:
Increase our FAITH.
And the Lord said:
If you had FAITH like to a grain of mustard seed,
you might say to this mulberry tree,
Be thou rooted up, and be thou
transplanted into the sea:
and it would obey you.
John 12: 46
I am come a light into the world;
that whosoever believeth in me,
may not remain in darkness.

“Faith is like a bright ray of sunlight.
It enables us to see God in all things
as well as all things in God.”
– St. Francis de Sales

“To one who has FAITH
No explanation is necessary.
To one without FAITH,
No explanation is possible.”
– St. Thomas Aquinas

The opposing vice is

UNBELIEF
THE WEAKNESS BY WHICH WE REJECT THE TRUTHS WHICH GOD HAS REVEALED

EXAMPLES OF UNBELIEF
Atheism is a denial of all revealed truths.
Heresy is a denial of revealed truths.
Superstition is a misuse of religion.

Our Purpose

God created me
to know Him,
to love Him,
and to serve Him
in this world
and to be happy with Him
forever in the next.

ACT OF FAITH
O MY GOD, I firmly believe that Thou art one God
in Three Divine Persons,
Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
I believe that Thy Divine Son became Man,
and died for our sins,
and that He will come to judge
the living and the dead.
I believe these and all the truths
which the Holy Catholic Church teaches,
because Thou hast revealed them,
Who canst neither deceive nor be deceived.
Amen.
