[Jesus said to his disciples:
“What is your opinion?
If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray,
will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills
and go in search of the stray?
And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it
than over the ninety-nine that did not stray.
In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father
that one of these little ones be lost.”] (Mt. 18:12-14)

The last time I checked, 99 is greater than 1 (99>1).  So, to answer Jesus honestly we’d say, “Of course not.” No one in their right mind would leave 99 sheep unattended to search for 1 sheep. The math doesn’t add up. No one would leave to chance the vast majority of their income in order to gain a minuscule profit.  It’s economical suicide.

As Christmas  approaches, start to think about the enormous chance God took on you.  He becomes a little baby boy. He’s born in an unsanitary stable. It would’ve been so easy to end His earthly life. Yet that’s the chance He willingly took for you and me.

Take a few minutes today to imagine the manger scene. Imagine Mary asking you, “Would you like to hold Him?” Will you take that chance to hold the baby Jesus in your arms?

Now in your life of faith, are you willing to take a chance on following Jesus unreservedly as He took a chance on you?
