President’s Blog August 27

May God continue to bless you and may you remain safe in these troubled times.

This week our strength building on the theme of VIRTUE is DISCIPLINE.

The strength to be in control of oneself regardless of the circumstances.
DISCIPLINE is necessary for everything in life. We need to have DISCIPLINE in school, in our relationships, in our future jobs….if we expect to succeed.

Matthew 7: 13-14
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many.
How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.”

“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments.” Saint Mother Theresa of Calcutta

The opposing vice THE WEAKNESS TO ALLOW OUR DESIRES, FEELIINGS AND/OR CIRCUMSTANCES TO CONTROL US.

INDULGENCE VS. DISCIPLINE
Imagine walking on this narrow bridge without guardrails.
As guardrails help us to stay on the dangerous bridge, so constraints and discipline help us to stay on the right path in life.
Everyone likes to have a good time, but most people come to recognize that happiness and satisfaction come not so much from the enjoyment of pleasure as from the performance of duty.
A life without constraints is not a dream but a nightmare.

Lord God, You didn’t run at the first sign of chaos or difficulty.
You showed us how to love with DISCIPLINE, to sacrifice with DISCIPLINE, to have obedience to Your Father’s will with DISCIPLINE.
We want to live like You.
We want to live for You and for others.
Help us to practice the virtue of DISCIPLINE for our own sanctification and for the sanctification of others.

In Christ’s Peace
