President’s Friday Virtue Message

Dear Assumption Catholic Schools,

We approach Christmas Eve and our Advent journey is coming to an end.  My prayer for us is that we have drawn closer to Jesus this season and that we will celebrate His birth with our friends and family.  Jesus is the greatest gift mankind has ever been given, We have the opportunity to receive Him every week or more often at daily Mass.  We can also visit Him in any church or chapel in the Tabernacle.  Of course, just having a conversation in prayer with Him works as well.

The virtue this week is silence.  Making an effort to listen.  Our 21st-century lives do not lend themselves to silence.  We carry cell phones, multi-task with the phone, the computer, the TV, and live conversations.  Silence enables us to listen to others or the voice of God.

Silence-2023-MINI-PDF

“Patience, prayer, and silence – these are what give strength to the soul.” – St. Faustina

The weakness is NOISE – disrupts the soul causing difficulties to converse with God.

Silence and prayer are not the preparation for the battle. They are the battle!

May the end of Advent and the coming Christmas season be filled with joy, gladness, friends, and family.

In Christ’s Peace

Daniel Minter, President
